TEPL installed Eternity at Royal Western
Turf Club |

Telematic Engineer’s Pune office had recently installed the
Digital PABX, Eternity at Royal Western India Turf Club, Pune.
Racing in India is legacy of the British Raj. Though it is
well documented that the British were always serious in the
business of efficiently running the Empire, they invariably
found time for sport and recreation, and wherever they went,
they created the necessary infrastructure for its pursuit.
This is an Image of the litho card of The Pune Race Course.
Although more than years have passed since, the image of the
race course today and the one you see here are more or less
the same! The track remains lush green and so do the grands
stand which were built in 1902. References to the Pune Turf
Club can be found dating to 1820!
However, in 2006, Pune Race Course has become more hi-tech.
All the latest technological gadgets are available in Royal
Western India Turf Club, Pune. The management had decided to
go ahead with Digital PABX from TEPL, after studying the
strength of TEPL. |

Telecom Companies aiming big for
Broadband |
|
|
|
There’s no stopping India’s telecom boom. For the two largest
private mobile operators, Reliance Communication Ventures (RCoVL)
and Bharati Airtel. It’s not only the wireless segment that’s
growing. Broadband and Long-distance businesses are also
contributing to the growth. While Bharati’s Broadband and
long-distance businesses have grown at higher rate than its
wireless business, in the case of RCoVL, they are growing at
almost the same pace. In Bharati’s case, combined long
distance and broadband revenues grew by 14%, sequentially,
higher than the 11% wireless growth.
RCoVL’s revenues from these two segments together, grew by
6.06% on a Q-on-q basis,
Against a 7% growth in its wireless revenues. The increase in
the broadband and long distance revenues is being contributed
by higher minutes of use in the long distance segment and
larger average revenue per line in the case of broadband
At present, while RCoVL’s long distance revenues are twice
that of Bharati’s, it’s the opposite in the broadband segment.
Wireless, however, continues to account more than 50% f the
revenues for the both the private operators. The other two
segments together account for 43%and 33% of the total revenues
of RCoVL and Bharati respectively. RCoVL has been able to cash
in on its One India plan very well during the quarter ended
March ’06.The company’s operating margins in long distance
have shot up from 14% in the quarter ended December’05 to
19%in the latest quarter.
According to a report by JM Morgan Stannley, ”its EBITDA
margins were driven by increased volumes in long distance
voice and international data and cost efficiencies.”
The Company’s NLD minutes of use increased by more than 135
sequentially largely because of the reduced tariffs under the
One India plan. Although, this segment’s revenues have not
grown much on a sequential basis due to tariff reduction, the
company managed a significant cost reduction, resulting in a
significant margin expansion. Bharati, on the other hand, have
seen an 18% sequential growth in the revenues of long distance
telephony, which is higher than its growth in the wireless
segment. The long distance business accounts for around 21% of
Bharati’s total revenues, while it accounts for around 38% of
RCoVL revenues.
RCoVL’s broadband business, too, has seen a jump from 19% in
the third quarter of FY06 to 31% in the fourth quarter. Even
though it has a smaller customer base of around 256,000
compared to Bharati’s 1,347,000, its APRL is more than double
of Bharati’s.
The broadband business was the only segment of RCoVL that
showed a healthy sequential revenue growth of more than 50%in
the fourth quarter. Nevertheless, its share of 5% in total
revenues is still very small, compared to Bharati broadband’s
share of 11.5% of total revenues. |
